First you have to see which schools you are both accepted to before you can decide where to live.
With the nursing program you take the first 2 years of basic classes and then apply to the nursing program. Acceptance is based on grades and enrollment is limited, so there’s no guarantee she’ll be accepted at her first choice school. You may get financial aid but they won’t begin to cover living expenses in NYC. Even after you both graduate from college you’ll only make enough to live modestly in NYC until you get well established in your career. NYC is a great place to visit but it would be a big mistake to move there for school unless you have unlimited funds.
As you’ve said Dallas is much cheaper and somewhat closer to home. You never really laid out the case for NYC. So I think you’ve already made your mind up. Go with your first instinct.
It is a no-brainer–Dallas!! Are you filthy rich? Do you have any idea of the cost of living in NYC? If the answer to either of those questions is "no", then put NYC put of your mind. Unless you have lots of money, it might be best for you both to first get your education somewhere close to home, and then pursue life in your dream city, wherever that may be.
Both are bad but Dallas is best.
I think you should choose Dallas, because first of all, your family lives there. It’s really important to live near your family. If you choose NYC, you’ll have to pay for plane tickets to Dallas if you wanted to see them. Second, because you’re getting married there. It would be easier to just stay in that area instead of moving to NYC after your marrige. But I would recomend living in the subburbs of Dallas, because in Dallas, it’s really busy and crowded. I live in a small town called Kemp, about 45 miles away, and it’s nice and peaceful. So go with Dallas, but pick one of the subburbs. Good luck!!!
