A really great way to see a cross section of America is to follow the old "Lincoln Highway". This was the very first complete road going from coast-to-coast in the U.S. It has it’s start in New York City, and it’s ending is in San Francisco. It travels through many towns, large, small and in between.
It will take you to some of the great historical places, Trenton, Valley Forge, Gettysburg, through the Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish) country side. Through the Appalachian Mountains, into Ohio. You know the sights and places of interest are just too many to mention, but I tell you that you will be able to lecture on America when you complete this journey. You can do a lot for 4,000 pounds… it is $6,040. From L.A. to New York, I’d try to hit big places, like Las Vegas [you'd have to go down a bit i think] Grand Canyon, Yellowstone [ohhh, i love Yellowstone, I could just live out in the wilderness, it is a must go to place!] Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, ect.
The other months are in Winter. [mostly] and the Northeast gets snow by the ton there. 15 inches in my town. and, depending if you like snow, I would def. say hit the N.E.
